Type 2 diabetes
Contrary to common understanding diabetes is not just caused by elevated sugar levels. It is a result of the pancreas not producing enough insulin, a hormone that regulates the movement of sugar into our cells. This in turn causes the cells to respond poorly to insulin and take in less sugar.
As this condition continues long-term (chronic), it results in too much sugar circulating in the bloodstream and eventually leads to disorders of the circulatory, nervous, and immune systems. Restrictions and medicines to bring down blood sugar levels alone cannot cure diabetes.
